Configuration testing is testing the product under a different number of hardware or software configurations. Hardware and software can sometimes have an unlimited number of configurable items and this would be too much to test, so it is advisable that the product be tested with, at least, the minimum, the maximum configuration and a few different configurations in between.
Verifies performance impacts from changes in Software components, Hardware, Processor Speed, Memory, system parameters, parameters etc.
Testing of an application or a technical environment (such as a DBMS
) for compatibility across different configurations of a system, e.g., different client/server network configurations.
Use of information about the internal state of the environment to check the stability of the system in different configurations.
Checks that a system works acceptably in the various different configurations to which it can be set.
