IP Address

An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a number that identifies a computer on the Internet. The IP address consists of two parts - the identifier of a particular network on the Internet and the identifier of a particular computer within that network. For example, in the IP address "192.168.40.12," the first section, "192.168.40," identifies the network that the computer is part of, and the last part, "12," identifies the individual computer.
